I hate waking up with condensation on the screen of my iPod and feeling like I’m going to suffocate) You have to close a large metal curtain over your window every night or you are certifiably insane. Not closing my blinds every night (the internal heating of French homes, at least in this region, majorly sucks. All they eat here that resembles cereal is muesli, AKA granola) Salty breakfasts/ sugary breakfast cereal (breakfast in France, practically by definition, cannot include anything salty unless maybe it’s some bread and butter. Salty snacks (they have salty crackers before dinner sometimes and my host sister will occasionally have chips, but pretty much everything is sugar-based) Old Dutch Cheesy puffcorn (if you know me then you know why) Malls (there’s Galleries Lafayette, which is like Macy’s with a grocery store attached, but that’s all)

There is some law in France, not making this up, that if you have a dog they cannot really arrest you for homelessness) Pets that are larger than microwaves that don’t belong to homeless people (if you’re wealthy, you might have a shihtzu or a cat or a hamster, if you’re homeless you want a big dog. Tomato soup (there’s plenty of soup, but never deliciously salty tomato soup)Ĭar rides where you converse (everyone is silent almost all the time, especially in the morning)

Weird things that I miss (and their explanations):Īmerican TV commercials (pretty self-explanatory why they don’t have them, what I don’t understand is why I miss them)
